Unleashed Women want men involved for 2018

In previous years, Unleashed Women has focused solely on women in Australia empowering women globally. In 2018, we have expanded it to include men and women - because we know that it will take all of us to make a difference. We also know that the most effective way to end hunger for is everyone (women, men, children) to empower women.

So we’re excited to see what can be possible when everyone comes together around a common goal like empowering women for the end of hunger, once and for all.

You might be interested to know that while The Hunger Project’s work in rural villages across Africa, India and Bangladesh does focus primarily on women, we are equally committed to mobilising everybody. We train women and men, equipping them with the skills, methods and knowledge needed to take self-reliant actions to improve their lives and conditions in their communities. In this way, entire communities transform, and lift themselves out of hunger and poverty.

Wondering how you could get together a group of women and men to fundraise for Unleashed Women? We’ve put together an A-Z of ideas to get you started. Click HERE to read them.

Melanie Noden, CEO, The Hunger Project Australia said Unleashed Women is for everyone

“We know that women in developing countries often bear the responsibility of obtaining the basic needs for the community and their family, yet are systematically denied the resources and the voice to fulfil that responsibility. Unleashed Women aims to achieve gender equality and end hunger for everyone by empowering women to be the key change agents.

“Unleashed Women is an opportunity for Australian women and men to get a team together and play a part in solving a global problem, to empower women to reach their full potential. When people understand the power they have to initiate significant change, their actions influence other people to do the same, and perceptions of their role within society shifts.”
