What is 'Dinners to End Hunger'?

'Dinners to end hunger’ is a conversation starter to raise awareness, education, and action to end hunger and poverty.
Ending hunger has changed, the world we share has changed. Triggered by events such as COVID, climate, and conflict millions of people are being driven into extreme poverty and hunger. Whilst the impacts are hardest felt by people who have the least, the conversation for solving this can start at home. We invite you to bring this global conversation to your dinner table over nourishing food, rich conversation, and a few fun facts to chew on!

With our global food systems in crisis, finding a solution at home may seem overwhelming. It’s more important than ever to empower people to join this global conversation and invest in sustainable, locally-led solutions to end chronic hunger. ‘Dinners to End Hunger’ is an action you can take now, to be powerfully equipped and empowered to create change. By hosting or attending a dinner with likeminded people hungry for change, we forge our own community-led development initiative and grow the conversation collectively. Funds raised will support the Women’s Empowered Fund which enables our work empowering women living in systems of inequality.

What is The Women Empowered Fund

The Women Empowered Fund recognises the issues of gender inequality that women face in overcoming hunger and poverty in Afrrica, India, Bangladesh and Latin America. Women bear almost all responsibility for meeting basic needs of the family, yet are systematically denied resources, informaiton and freedom of action they need to fulfill this responsibility. As a result, the world's poor are overwhelmingly women, as well as two thirds of the world's illiterate population. And while women make up almost half of famrers in developing countries they produce up to 30% less than their male counterparts, and account for less than 15% of farmland owners.

Your investment could help train women in modern farming techiques, help them access loans so they can start their own businesses, and educate them about their legal rights and how to exercise them.

Over the next three years the Women Empowered Fund is aiming to raise $1M - and you can be a part of it. A minimum of $1,000 will automatically place you in The Women Empowered Collective, connecting you with other passionate Investors who are commuitted to breaking the gender barriers that stop women from reaching their true potential in countries where we work.

About The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project is a global organisation that has been working to solve hunger and poverty in remote communities across Africa, India, Bangladesh and Latin America for over forty years. Unlike many conventional aid models, we do this through innovative and proven in-country programs that empower communities to become self-reliant by giving them the skills, knowledge and resources they need break to the poverty cycle themselves. We identify and build community leaders, then enable them to unite and transform their village through education, agriculture, health and microfinancing. This allows them to create a hunger-free future we’re no longer needed for. Visit our main website to learn more.

When you host your Dinner, please follow any local COVID-19 restrictions where you live. Stay safe, have fun and make a difference.
