WOMEN EMPOWERED FUND

Join us for a special evening launching Women Empowered FundĀ in Queensland

Join us for a special evening launching our new 'Women Empowered Fund’. The Fund has been created to recognise and address the issues of gender inequality that women face in overcoming hunger and poverty in the countries where we work. Women bear almost all responsibility for meeting basic needs of the family, yet are systematically denied the resources, information and freedom of action they need to fulfil this responsibility. As a result, the world’s poor are overwhelmingly women, as well as two thirds of the world’s illiterate population. And while women make up almost half of farmers in developing countries, they produce up to 30% less than their male counterparts, and account for less than 15% of farmland owners.

To highlight the challenges that result in these startling statistics and the incredible change made possible through the work of The Hunger Project, we will be joined by incredible guests and speakers:

  • Philippe Magid, CEO of The Hunger Project Australia
  • Grace Chikowi, Country Director of Malawi
  • Belinda Brosnan, Author, Executive Coach and THP Immersion Program Facilitator

    Date: 16th February 2023
    Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
    Place: WeWork Brisbane
    Address: 260 Queen Street, Brisbane

    About The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project is a global organisation that has been working to solve hunger and poverty in remote communities across Africa, India, Bangladesh and Latin America for over forty years. Unlike many conventional aid models, we do this through innovative and proven in-country programs that empower communities to become self-reliant by giving them the skills, knowledge and resources they need to break the poverty cycle themselves. We identify and build community leaders, then enable them to unite and transform their village through education, agriculture, health and microfinancing. This allows them to create a hunger-free future we’re no longer needed for.
