THE SEASON FOR CHANGE

Be part of the change and support The Hunger Project to create climate-resilient communities that can end their own hunger and overcome the challenges that climate change presents.

We are committed to working with empowered people within rural and remote communities. This includes creating farms where villagers learn composting, intercropping and other methods to improve crop yields, restore soil fertility and make the best use of scarce resources.

Climate change is disproportionately affecting many communities. We know that the most vulnerable are at the greatest risk from climate change, and yet they have done the least to cause it.

HELP BUILD THE CLIMATE FOR CHANGE

Droughts and severe storms impact water security and sanitation across rural and remote communities. This has resulted in 135 million people suffering from acute hunger, largely due to man-made conflicts, climate change and economic downturns.

There’s an uncomfortable irony that the people who contribute the least to climate change are the ones most impacted by it.

People living in conditions of hunger and poverty, particularly those in rural and remote communities, are at the greatest risk of impact from environmental concerns. They rely heavily on agriculture, with their well-being closely tied to the natural environment. The Hunger Project offers Food Security & Agriculture Workshops at our epicentres around the world.

The number of people who lack sufficient water for at least one month per year will soar from 3.6 billion today to more than 5 billion by 2050, without adaptive measures.

The Hunger Project works with empowered people so they lift themselves out of hunger and away from the impacts of climate change. This is done through empowerment workshops which train both women and men, so they have the knowledge to raise community-wide awareness about how to build their own climate-resilient communities.
