Business Chicks 2018 Senegal Journey

The journey has already begun

I applied for this immersion trip thinking about the actual trip, meeting amazing people and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. The day I had the interview for the trip and learnt the finer details of it I was hooked! I knew it was so in line with my passions that I would be devastated if I didn't get in. A couple of weeks later when I got the call to say I had been accepted I was beside myself with excitement.

Then I got my welcome pack and it all hit me....

In that moment I was sitting creating my donation page within The Hunger Projects website trying to write a bio about why I was doing it. The moment I had to write about myself and start thinking about asking people to help me on this journey my inner critic started kicking in...

I went straight to discounting myself and doubting my ability to raise the funds. It became really obvious, really fast that i have serious issues around asking for help!

From a young age I have been independent, strong willed and throughout some struggles in my younger years I developed a pattern of rebellion against asking for help.

I have always considered myself a fairly extroverted person. I love meeting new people and have no problem speaking within small groups but when I think about all attention on me or putting myself "out there" I go weak at the knees.

I thought the hardest thing about this trip would be the actual trip, flights etc but I now see the hardest thing for me will be asking for help when I need it and letting myself shine within this experience. Oh boy this is going to be one hell of a ride…

2018 Business Chicks Senegal Journey

Those who know me well know that I love helping others and am an advocate for women leaders. My passion for educating and empowering women is why I am beside myself with excitement to say I have been accepted into The Hunger Project and Business Chicks 2018 Senegal Immersion Trip.

As part of the trip myself and 19 other remarkable female leaders will embark on a journey that will take us to Senegal to support the work of The Hunger Project.

The Hunger Project is a global not-for-profit organisation which believes that the hungry themselves are the resource in ending hunger and poverty. Unlocking creativity, leadership, entrepreneurialism and productivity of the poorest of the poor is what they do. They build leaders, in particular, women leaders.

Your tax- deductible donation will go a long way to empower women to enact change within their own communities to create a brighter future without hunger or poverty. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.

Thank you to my Sponsors
